What is it about?
The XVII LAWCC (XVII Latin American Women in Computing Congress) will be held as part of the 51st CLEI (Latin American Conference on Informatics). Its main objective is to highlight the research, interest, and achievements of women in the various areas of computing, with the intention of encouraging more women to participate actively in the technology sector. The presented papers seek to highlight the challenges women face in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), ICT (Information and Communications Technologies), teaching, and in the workplace and research. The papers are expected to address recurring issues related to gender and the interaction with society in this context.

- Analysis of women’s activity and participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in general.
- Contributions of women in STEM/ICT fields.
- Female participation in scientific and technological events (hackathons, science clubs, workshops, etc.).
- Inclusive software development (games, apps, and others) with strong participation of women.
- Initiatives to promote gender equity in STEM/ICT.
- Experiences of women’s groups/communities in STEM/ICT fields.
- Gender and Human-Computer Interaction.
- Female leadership models and ICT.
- Gender specificities in the development and implementation of ICT.
- Gender specificities in STEM/ICT teaching at all five levels: pre-school, preschool, basic/primary, secondary, and higher education.
- Women’s participation in national and international decision-making regarding the use of ICTs.
- Public policies on women and ICTs.
- Initiatives to foster STEM/ICT careers among girls and adolescent women and increase female participation in these careers.
Paper Submission
Papers can be written in English, Spanish, or Portuguese, and will be reviewed by an international program committee composed of members of academia and industry.
Authors must select the event “LAWCC – XVII Latin American Women in Computing Conference.”
Publication of the proceedings on CEUR.org requires that at least half of the published papers be in English. If this requirement is not met, the LAWCC 2025 organizers may request a subsequent English translation of some of the accepted papers. Review Process
All articles will be subject to single-blind review by members of the Scientific Committee of the XVII LAWCC. Reviewers will adhere to the CLEI Code of Conduct for Reviewers.
Paper Format
Papers may be full paper (10-12 pages) or short paper (5-9 pages). Both must be submitted in PDF format in the CEUR-ART format, using one column. The template is available in the following file, titled “CEUR-Template-1col” http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-XXX/CEURART.zip.
Submitted papers must not be published or under review at any other national or international conference or publication. Authors must adhere to the CLEI Code of Conduct for Authors.
Submission: Papers must be submitted via EasyChair, indicating the selected track.
Important dates
- Deadline for paper submissions: May 18, 2025
- Notification of acceptance: July 6, 2025
- Submission of final version (camera-ready): August 10, 2025
Articles’ Presentation
Accepted papers will be presented in breakout sessions, consisting of a 20-minute oral presentation of each full paper, followed by questions from the audience; and a 5-minute session for short papers.
Publication & Indexing
All accepted papers will be published in the XVII LAWCC proceedings, which will be submitted to CEUR-WS.org for online publication. If published on CEUR-WS.org, the proceedings will have an ISBN and will be indexed in DBLP and Scopus, among other sources.
To ensure publication of an approved article in the XVII LAWCC proceedings, at least one of the authors must be registered with the 51st CLEI, and the article must adhere to the specified format (CEUR-ART, 1 column) and not exceed the maximum number of pages allowed. Furthermore, authors who receive recommendations for article improvements must follow them before submitting the final version.
